chez gorgeoux: melon glace, a week-end classic

These juicy images should speak for themselves. Even so, a few details can't do wrong, like the fact that you only need 5 minutes to prepare the refreshing bite. Have a medium-sized melon chilling in the fridge over night. Wake up late and lazily make yourself a scotch coffee. Light up a cigarette, get the melon out, and close the fridge door with your foot. Get these first simple steps right or risk missing the joyride. You can skip the cigarette, but it is paramount to close the fridge door with your foot (whichever!); how else would you feel like Saturday at home? Split the melon open slick and fast so that no drop can fall. Lose the seeds, get a spoon, and chop away at the melon merrily. Leave a layer stand. Do not resist inhaling. Taste the melon: sweet like heaven or needing to befriend some honey? If so, pour it thinly all over the melon chops and mix. Add a generous sip of rum, and mix again. Chop the other half as well, for your beloved--human or stomach. Add ice cream of choice; I used vanilla rum with raisins. Sprinkle some cinnamon and nutmeg. You could forget the ice cream entirely and go differently about the rum: marinate a handful of raisins for each melon half in rum, over night. Use big spoons, enjoy any combo, and if the alleged aphrodisiac qualities of nutmeg kick in by any chance, drop me a line full of juicy details sometime. Monday never comes.
