wallet wanted. empty and sweet
Tweet

My leather wallet from mom, a lovely and valuable piece, got stolen in 2004. I then bought a red leather, lacquered—how else?!—item from Leonardo. You wouldn't think they're capable of style! Well, think again about my red patent shoes. When that cute wallet started to wear off, I got a practical pink corduroy one from Teranova, and a sweet non-practical one from a nameless shop—more expensive, even. The corduroy died a few months ago and the sweet one—turquoise leather with a lining of white polka dots on turquoise—isn't doing the job lately. Plus, it gets dirty within days and doesn't exactly thrive on my washing machine treatment.I've looked everywhere: from specialized shops to airports, from Mango to in-flight magazines, from outrageously expensive shops to cheap subway station shops. I want a wallet with personality, preferably matching mine, a wallet that can shelter all I can think of and then some without being huge or ugly: banknotes, coins, cards, business cards, blogcards, silly cards, religious icons and other trivial pieces of paper that a woman treasures too much. The price isn't an issue. Does it have to be so hard?! Please help. Drop an idea, a link, anything! But don't, if you're thinking brands like Gucci and Burberry. That stuff is cheap (awful plastic many a time), overrated, everywhere. Unlike my former friends.
Update, March 15th 2007: For better ideas, take a look at my present wallet's photos.

Update, March 17th 2007: We have a winner! Checking the Dada [RO] restaurant (so-so, too expensive, form over substance, don't bother), I ended up mainly impressed with this wallet: perfect size, perfect compartments, great colour, great leather—very smooth, somewhat shiny. Almost RON 100 (EUR 29). I haven't been a customer of Dada before. Did you know that they opened shops in Tokyo, Amsterdam, and Athens?Labels: grrl stuff

Try our new wallet... it is practical and sweet. NuPocket is a wallet that makes a pocket for your cell phone. You can carry it in your pocket or purse, or fold it over your waistband to keep it secure and safe. And it is beautiful there! You can get 100% nylon, so that it never gets dirty, or you can get 85% nylon in a silver spangle design. Tough choice! Get the bigger one if you want to carry a passport in it next to your cell phone. It is easier to use than any pocket, and it keeps your stuff close to your hand, and is gorgeous. Wow. Practical and more, reach your cell phone like a holster on your waist. Only for fashion trendsetters who are brave.... namely you. www.NuPocket.com
take a look at ACCESSORIZE; I'll be near one at the end of this month, so let me know if I can help you :) Alina
you could try Unirea Shopping Center, 1st floor, Brunotti. I remember seeing some pretty nice wallets there.
Thank you, nupocket, I looked at your options. The silvery pattern and the crocodile look good as fabrics. However, the shape is too traditional and neither wallet stands out like I'd like it to. I never wear a thing around my waist other than a belt and all my purses have a pocket for my phone.
Alina, you're too kind. I can be near Accessorize again within weeks. Yet my trouble with them is double: on one hand, the only colours on their wallets are yellow (nice one) and green (not that sharp) this season and, worse, whenever I go into their shops the wallets and purses and handbags look less inviting than they do on the website.
I've updated the post with two photos of my present wallet to give you an idea on how picky I am and why this task isn't coming easy to me.
Thanks, bliss, got that on my list. Fingers crossed.
