delicious, proven ways to complicate your life

A year ago today my love sent me the e-mail that started it all. It was very serious, heartfelt, and behaved. Yesterday, as we opened our cards in two different cities on the same time zone, he remarked that having more than one anniversary (at least first post, first e-mail, first meeting) makes us not focus on one in particular. This year we're not spending any of those precise three days together. We're celebrating alright, just not on but around.

Today I celebrated by packing the first moving suitcase. I've been very happy to manage to close it. Then I could hardly lift it, so I thought I should put it on the balance. 30 kilograms. And then my love, obviously using a bit more brain cells than me, suggested it may cost me if it's too heavy. Provided that they agree to take it, anyway. I'm such a light traveler that I've never had to consider this before. However, I'm flying a low cost airline. Checking, it is clear that I must repack down to 20 kilograms; more celebrating tonight! Maybe that way I can also lift the suitcase without breaking some bone or blood vessel.

Another sweet trouble that I brought upon myself was transporting some very delicate objects that we acquired last week-end. Because our new flat can't be too Ikea, and because bringing my cute delicate objects next to his simply wasn't enough; we needed some entirely new, non-Ikea ones! I've got so many bright ideas, you see? Bam boo was one of them. It started with a few cool coloured glass bottles I thought my love should see. That was another great idea, because together we had four hands to fill. The only way we didn't buy half the shop yet was setting a budget. Which we exceeded, of course.

And I didn't stop there. I decided I will carry a suitcase of stuff each time I go from now on. Heavy stuff, because it goes perfectly well with delicate objects. My meaningful books almost made it to the first trip; almost because some 10 kilograms will have to wait. And probably some other 20 kilograms will flee the building. Seeing empty bookshelves it's odd, trust me. Preparing the tea box isn't, though. And carrying the doormat in my hand luggage so that I can lay it in front of the door first thing isn't bad either. Because when friends will come visit and lose themselves in London, they will be glad that no one else has a zebra doormat behind a building door closed with a key--save that photo!

There are so many new things about this. I'm moving for the first time in over six years. To a new flat. Which we will decorate and inhabit together. In a new city and a new country. Where I will make new friends and have new adventures. And I owe it all to my avid reader's e-mail a year ago today. Or to my first bright idea ever, answering it. If you own a moving company for heavy and delicate things that have to cross the channel, then if you believe that I should be content with the great ideas mentioned so far, and if you wish to make us an anniversary/ moving gift, this is the time to jump in.
