making art, fashion, history and, hopefully, money

I came upon Karola Torkos's page accidentally, as it happens many a time. Her abstract school and exhibit projects are eye-catching, witty, and sometimes both, though rarely wearable. The wearable collection, however, consists of the most delicate and innovative jewellery pieces I've seen in a long while, not shy of noble metals either. The kind that prove a statement.

You're admiring the versatile Garland necklace/ bracelet in 14 karat gold or gold-plated silver, part of the Karakola line of jewellery and accessories for two years now (price on request). It is the simplicity of this design that enchants me--one way to tell the greatness of an idea is to observe whether it appears simple and obvious. And it is less creative jewels in many shops and exhibitions--including the London Fashion Week--that worry me.

Karakola belongs with people and shiny display cases, not trade fairs and gallery shows. Tell.

Heya, thanks for your comments about my work. gave me a smile on my face. unfortunately no money coming in despite all good verbal response. I suppose this kind of jewellery is too complex for people out there..? keep on spreading the word!

You're welcome. I believe in your work. And maybe you should send me a quote for my wishlist, at least :) You need to have a crack at retail somehow, and I hope you'll find around you the people in a position to help. Sooner than later :)

Being aspirational never hurt anyone :) Then again, mass production? Could lower some costs. Alive :D And kicking. And praying that I live long and get filthy rich.

I'd like to keep the quality high...so I sell less (or almost nothing, haha). thats how it is. Mass production is an issue I look into but I still think this piece is something exceptional, as there was never something like this before...I always ask women about the most expesive shoes they own and how long they last...
I keep you updated!

You are right. It is exceptional and it is not the highest price ever seen. Forget mass production--though I fear someone else may do it--and maybe make the piece available in the right shops :)
