a tad more about oslo, as we leave it behind
Tweet
Here's a quick look at the atmosphere, outside (art gallery seen from the street) and inside (a cafe like many others). We've walked for a couple of hours in very central Oslo and saw people dressed in gray, trams and buses with padded chairs, endless cafes selling sandwiches and quiches, great coffee but no alcohol, and, in the same vein, no restaurants and no pubs. There are grocers, alright, and flowers are sold everywhere, but I didn't look at price tags since a small glass of wine plus a half pint of beer meant GBP 15. Apparently, cafes used to be more design and got refurbished to this worn down look a few months ago, but I see no problem with their austerity since they've still got atmosphere.
We've also seen the park in Oslo briefly, the emblem of the city, and its landscaping proved boring, at least at winter time. Ducks were flying around and coming to greet people, which was a nice touch but not enough to make me want to live in this city. I fail to imagine what other Norwegian cities have to offer, but I'll be reporting from the countryside.
