things I didn't expect to learn today tweet this send to google buzz

I had the pleasure to spend not one, not two, but three FULL hours removing the decorative (i.e. horrific) stitching off a knitted jumper that someone would wear gladly in its new, cleansed state. This task was so glamorous that I had been postponing it for nearly a year and a half.

During the very long three hours (and the necessary three hundred thirty three cigarettes) I learned that I have more patience than I thought. I expect it's got something to do with love, because duty has hardly ever triggered a similar response. I learned, as well, that undoing someone's job, in some cases requires understanding how they did it in the first place. I also learned that I'm still underestimating certain activities, when they're not about work at the office.

Above all, I'm estimating it will be at least another year and half until I do something this exciting again. I'd rather be ironing, and if you know how much I LOVE ironing (not!), you get my current state. Rapture.
