it was a very merry christmas. at home.

This time words would take too much brainpower, and while I'm pondering whether that is good or bad, I'm hoping our little helpers will show you what a swell Christmas Day we had. Using up all the available words, as it happens, but loving it nonetheless.

the light of the first day of holiday

A sleep so long that it could have been endless, and the first gratifying sight. Freedom.

the sun always shines on me

trapped, originally uploaded by gorgeoux.

It is not the first year when I had to more or less postpone my birthday due to what goes on at the office. Rather silly on the birthday side to arrive during the week and, no less, a week before we wrap up a number of projects before Christmas.

It is, however, the first year when I wake up every morning listening to cute birds quarreling over food outside my window. The first year I set foot in the BBC building and won the pitch. And the first year when I wore jeans with holes without making a fashion statement.

All good things, believe me. Here's looking at 33! Or some such. I've lost count long ago.

everywhere you go, always take the weather with you...

on our way to Scotland, originally uploaded by gorgeoux.

...was a great song, but not for Londoners. The moment you leave this bloomin' city, the weather gets good. Behind you! It is with great joy, thus, that we discovered the sun shining in the Lake District, too, as we're closing in on Carlisle, where our Virgin train journey ends and Stuart becomes our host and guide. Some mountains (I believe that's what English people call the hills above) are even glistening in their powdery snow coat, so this is a great start of the second weekend—yet—away from work. Ta ta for now!

good things come to those who are angry

The anger has been building inside me for months, if not years. Today might as well be the tipping point. Good will breeds monsters. You may call them incompetence, fuck-all, procrastination. Monsters they are. And while I work on mines, it's not too much to ask that you do the same. Or is it? The only good part, and proof of adulthood (if not inherent softness) is that anger leads to some of the best changes. And I can feel them coming, on my side. You may call them ruthlessness, assertiveness, silence. Regardless, they will be delivered. You have been warned.

It rains so much that my pots are no longer able to evict the excess water. I fear for my babies, and I wasted piles of kitchen roll in a desperate attempt to save them from rotting. But aren't the skies blue? Tra-la-la and la-la-la.

Update, January 4th 2010: Not sure this is an improvement of any sort, except the soil is not frozen under the waistcoat-watch thickness of that ice. But I'm so happy to get some proper winter that I can't look at my babies no more, blinded by my own pursuit of happiness.
